On January 17, we went back to James Reese Center for another tournament. We were a lot more scared since we didn’t get enough practice due to the winter break, but we ended up surprising ourselves! In the first round, there were technical issues with the field getting noticed after the match, so we had to redo that, which unfortunately we lost, which was a bad start for us, but thing took a turn when this happened. In the second game, we held a astonishing victory of 114-26, with our alliance and our team dominating the field. We got ourselves in 3rd place from that match, and we felt proud of how good we did that round. Now the matches after this were really weird! On the 3rd match, our alliance won, so we expected a rank up. But, we stayed in the same place. We didn’t think much of it. We also won our 4th match, so we were doing really good. But when we checked our rank, we were still 5th place. We were a bit suspicious, but we also didn’t think much of it, and went back to practice. But when we won our 5th match, but still stayed 5th, we decided to investigate. Like how are we not going up with our 3 match streak, or at least losing our rank and going down? Then we found out the truth. The thing was that the teams above us had way too many points for us to overtake, and the teams below us had way too less points for them to overtake. So we were a big point barrier between 1-4 place and 6-16 place. It was evident that we couldn’t change our rank, but we still persisted on. And that made us win our 6th and last match with a huge 45-18, ending the meet with us in 5th place. We were really happy of ourselves because we had a 5 win streak, something that we couldn’t do in the past! That shows how much better we have become and how much better you can be when you donate!
