n March 4, 2026, we kicked off our biggest, most ambitious outreach initiative yet at Fort Bend Hope! For 10 incredible weeks, our mission was simple but powerful: dive headfirst into the worlds of robotics, coding, and teamwork with an amazing group of local kids.

To say we started from scratch would be an understatement. Back in Session 1, most of the students were complete beginners. The concepts of coding logic, structural building, and engineering design were entirely new to them. There were plenty of puzzled looks, tangled wires, and trial-and-error moments as they figured out how to make their hardware cooperate.

But fast forward to our final session, and the transformation was absolutely incredible!

Instead of looking to us for every answer, these kids were smoothly organizing themselves into focused teams, delegating roles, and troubleshooting complex problems like seasoned pros. Watching them collaborate to build and program was a massive highlight. Using the LEGO SPIKE Prime Kit, they brought some seriously impressive ideas to life. We’re talking everything from color-detecting robots that could navigate custom tracks, to autonomous smart bikes that could steer and move completely on their own!

It was so rewarding to watch their confidence skyrocket and see their creative sides completely take over. We didn’t just teach them how to build robots; we got a front-row seat to watching the next generation of engineers, problem-solvers, and innovators discover exactly what they’re capable of.
